I was not totally surprised how well this product performed because my daughter in Florida owns one and used it while I visited her home. In the past 30 yrs. I've spent alot of money having a company out to clean my carpeting and could not afford to have the furniture cleaned because they charged twice as much than the carpeting. Now I can do it all myself and within 4 hrs. everything is dry and looking gorgeous!! I suggest you buy one this minute! You won't be sorry!

"Poorly Constructed, but fashionably purple" 2009-05-08

We have had this Hoover just over two years now in our 2 kid, 3 lab, 2 cat household (read: used at least 2-3 times per month). During this time, two internal hoses (the one that sucks up and the one they dispenses cleaner) have both broken - twice each. They do not even break at the same time, so I'm at a loss. I think they were around $30 to replace. The ridiculously small (considering it has to hold the whole hose) plastic clips that hold the attachment hose rack on in the back has broken. Within the first two months of use, one of the brushes literally fell apart.

That all said, for the first 8-10 months, it worked well. It did leave a bit more water behind than I would have liked, but it cleaned adequately. I just think for a bit more money you can get something worlds better, and be a little more environmentally and economically conscious getting something that lasts rather than dumping one of these every few years. I have now purchased Hoover F8100900 Platinum Collection Carpet Cleaner with MaxExtract Technology which has a six year warranty versus one. My second choice was Hoover F7412-900 SteamVac Dual V Widepath Carpet Cleaner with Powered Handheld Tool, Black, but the warranty was the selling point for me - and not having to mix the solutions. Otherwise I had Hoover F5914-900 SteamVac with Clean Surge before which was worlds better than this throw-away.

As far as pros, it is fairly light compared to the Hoover Clean Surge vac, which lasted about 4 years. It does have a powered brush tool which works okay on stairs and well on chairs. It is very, very easy to clean. The rollers pull right off and the roller assembly can be taken apart completely for cleaning. The clear plastic front pops right off for cleaning the suction area. Also, I really do like the upright canisters.

Bottom line: If it didn't keep breaking, I would REALLY like this vac! But... I can't afford to keep replacing parts piecemeal, and I am done holding it together with duct tape! So, I cannot recommend it. The more expensive vac will be cheaper in the long run if I do get the full warranty 6 years out of it.

Like it a lot. Use it on ceramic tile, vinyl flooring and hardwood floors. Picks up well. Does a nice job on our area rugs. It's smaller and lighter than others we've used.

"COLD cleaning & soaking wet carpets" 2009-04-09
By R Shevey (Oneida, WI United States)
Not anything like I hoped. Unfortunatly, it was purchased just a little over 1 yr ago, so can't return/exchange it. It wasn't used at all until last month, 1st time I actually had to use it since purchase, & i'm VERY disappointed. The water comes out ice cold, not steam vac as stated even on product. No matter what I do, even putting hot water in from microwave, water is still ice cold. Dosen't do well cleaning just simple stains, & even after going over carpets 2 to 3x, it just dosen't do well at sucking up most water, took forver to dry.

Wish I would've used it right away so I would've known its not worth even $50, & I payed over $100 cuz now I'm stuck with a worthless machine.

 "Oddly designed, but functional" 2009-01-16
By Dagamon (Falls Church, VA United States)
I bought this cleaner because my Bissel conked out, and our dogs are, well, dogs.

Let me get this out of the way first. It works well. It cleans the carpet, and gets out the dirt, as evidenced by the black water that comes out of our rug.

That being said, it's strangely designed in ways it shouldn't be. Firstly, there are 2 tanks, one for clean water and one for waste. They are not labeled, and they look identical. There's a button on the front that says "tank release" that's also the same for both tanks. Not helpful. Then you figure out which tank you are to put water in (it's the one one the right) and the manual says to put 2 capfuls per tank of water. Ok great. But the cap has a big point on the top so you can't set that down. So if you are holding the tank, the cleaning solution, and the cap, you've got 3 hands. Congrats. Seems silly.

So you've got the tank attached and you're ready to go so you grab the handle; the triangular-shaped handle that's designed to dig into your hands as you work. So you're finished getting your hand reshaped by the handle, and you go to dump the waste tank. There are 2 clips on the top that have to be released to open it (again with the pointy top) so you have to set the filthy waste tank on the floor and release these 2 clips. How about one clip with a hinge?

Finally you get back to finish the job after fighting with the tank, and you've got wet soapy shoes, because you've been, well, shampooing. So you go with your wet soapy shoe to hit the smooth rounded button and it slips right off the smooth rounded power button several times. Finally you jam your heel into the thing and off you go. I don't know who designed this thing, but they certainly never used it.

That being said, I like it.
