I have now purchased 3 of these machines. The first one was returned to the store less than 6 months after it was purchased because the intake water bucket broke where the handle connects to the bucket and locks down the lid. At the time we returned the first one, we got one for my mom and another one for me, thinking that perhaps the first one was just faulty. Not true. The two new machines broke in exactly the same manner. I have had my machine less than two years and the motor has now burned out on it. You cannot get replacement parts. If you call Hoover for help, you get a "voice mail" runaround. They ended up sending me to a "dealer" that was 20 miles (one way)from my house and when I got there, she informed me that not only did she not have replacement parts, she didn't even sell that machine! I thought this was going to be a great machine - it does a pretty good job of cleaning, but the plastic buckets need to be overhauled. Also - the hand-held attachment for cleaning upholstry, etc. does not work that well. Instead of water coming out and spraying like it should, it just dribbles down your arm. I hate to badmouth a product, but I will never buy another Hoover product again. When will manufacturers learn that we would rather pay a little more for a durable product than less for a cheap one.

When I received this product I put it together and filled the tanks to use it on our family room carpet. After I was finished with the area I noticed that the water wasn't dispensing just the soap. I read the troubleshooting and as I looked closely at the SteamVac I noticed a broken part under the water tank. This part dispenses the water. I contacted the vendor and returned it for credit.

I was able to use this cleaner once before it broke. After one use, the spinning brush unit had to be professionally replaced. After second use, the plastic around the clean water tank seal broke spilling water everywhere. I've spent more money and wasted time on this thing than ever envisioned. Next time...I'll be hiring a professional to come do my whole house for portion of the price.

For months, I have been obsessively reading reviews for carpet cleaners and even tried two from my coworkers (1 Hoover 1 Bissel). Finally, my two cats gave me no choice but to get one asap. I saw this on multiple review sites and found it for an amazing price at ABC Vacuum Warehouse online. And they delivered it for free in 2 days! I cannot tell you how happy I am with it. Hre's why: It is easy to assemble, easy to fill, and easy to clean, and can be cleaned completely (everything comes off for cleaning--very important to me). Yes it's a bear to muscle around edges of the room, but it is powerful. Thanks to the powerful suction, it took less than an hour for my carpeting to be dry enough to walk on and return furniture to. I am totally happy with this carpet cleaner.

This product works great it picks of most of water but the carpet cleaner will not last after 1 year of use. The main culprit is the plastic water tanks. I have owned my machine for 4 years and I replaced it 3 times. The good thing is that its parts are available everywhere.... which I not sure its a good or bad thing.... Maybe the Hoover knows of these flaws and its creating an aftermarket demand on parts... and believe me they are not cheap. Each water tank is $50 to $70 so with what I have already spent. I could of bought a new one. I also had to replace rusted parts inside the machine. In conclusion, its the best cleaner out there but its just cheaply made out of plastic that will crack in time and leak all over the place... which causes parts to rust inside the machine.

I have owned Hoover products since 1970. This is the first piece of junk I've ever gotten from them. The clean water tank is worthless. It leaks everywhere. I have 4 dogs. I NEED my rug cleaner just to get doggy body odor out of the rugs. The water tank spews enough water from its leaks to make you think a dog has pizzled on the rugs and floors. Needless to say... you can't get a replacement part because they STAY OUT OF STOCK!!!!!!!!!

I have owned this Hoover model series for almost 3 years. The machine has served me well cleaning up pretty much anything my 4 and 2 year old and dog could throw at it. A few months ago the brushes stopped spinning. I investigated a way to fix it myself and discovered that instead of a belt driving the brushes it is run by a turbine mechanism powered by the air suction of the machine. It is a neat idea but poorly executed. I took the turbine apart to see that one of the spinning gears was rusted and had seized, probably because the air intake is right next to where the water is dispensed onto the carpet. I looked at ordering the part to replace myself and found that a new turbine assembly is $60. The tank had started leaking on the unit as well, it had to varying degrees since I bought the machine, so I decided to cut my losses and go buy a new machine.



This time I bought a Bissell pro-heat. In comparison the Bissell and Hoover carpet cleaner seem to be on a par cleaning wise. However there are a few things I like about the Bissell over the Hoover it: was easier to assemble, has belt driven brushes, is quieter, uses a combo water/wastewater tank, and the accessory hose is built into the machine as opposed to having the plug the hose in on the Hoover which is great feature for spot scrubbing stubborn stains.



So as I said the Hoover served me well for 3 years, but when parts start breaking it is prohibitively expensive to repair.

I used this shampooer on 3 carpets only one time. I tried to use it about a month later and the brushes have rusted so badly they don't spin. Unfortunately I didn't take it back to the store for a full refund when I first purchased it. The brushes seized up for a short time (but started working)when I tried to resume shampooing carpets after letting it sit overnight.

According to the serviceman (it is still under warranty) he said this is a bad redesign and happens frequently. He told me this may keep reoccurring and it will cost $40.00 for the part (not under warranty) and $50.00 to install it. There is nothing you can do to eliminate the rusting of the sealed bearings. He also mentioned throwing it out. This is just what I wanted to hear after spending over $225.00. I also wrote Hoover asking for my money back, we'll see.

Used it twice before it started leaking all over the place. Repairs were under warranty so it wasn't a big deal. Used it twice more before it started leaking again, this time out of warranty. We've spent a ridiculous amount of time fixing this thing. The repair shop says it is leaky valves. My first Hoover worked for 12 years without any problems. I'm very disappointed at this product.

I had a Hoover steam vac for eight years and loved it, I used it frequently and wore it out. I replaced it with this one two years ago. I did not pay enough attention to the warnings about the tank leaking. The tank design is flawed. I did not get the extended warranty because I never do. But if you have to have this model I would say it is a must just because of the tank.

After cleaning my carpets two times the tank started leaking. I had it replaced under warranty. Again I only used the machine a couple times and the tank leaked. Had it replaced. Third time the plastic around the seals cracked and it was leaking. At this point I was too busy to keep sending and arguing for a warranty replacement. I had switched to using a carpet cleaning service and as part of a move it was the casualty of discarded items. It was more work and effort with out the same results I was getting with my first Hoover to warrant the closet space or the move time.



Sadly, I would strongly advise against buying this one.

It is extremely heavy. I cleaned two fairly small swaths of carpeting, by the entry way and in front of the sofa and my hand was sore for 4 days. The hose attachment is cumbersome; it doesn't stay on and just adds to the weight of the machine. I took mine off. The brush is hard to take off to clean; there is nothing to grasp to pull it off. The lint cleaner on the bottom of the machine...could they have made it any harder to pull out? My dog threw up. The mess was cleaned as much as possible by hand first, using Nature's Miracle, allowed to dry, then I cleaned it using Hoover Pet formula, going over the area at least six times and then rinsing. It still smells like throw up. I'm not impressed.

We have had our Berber carpet cleaned a number of times by 3 or 4 different companies and thought the results were OK. But we bought this Hoover and the results were outstanding. This machine cleaned and raised the napp on this 10 year old carpet beyond expecations. The Hoover dried the carpet so well you could walk on it within the hour. Just follow Mfg. directions and you will never use an outside cleaning firm again. Although it took some time, the effort was well worth the price.

We have been using the Hoover carpet cleaner for years. After the first year we started having problems with the solution tank. Hoover knew a problem existed but was no help at all.I was hesitant in buying a hoover replacement tank just to have the same problem.

I purchased this model and find it to be a great machine. Seems heavy/bulky, when stationary, but moves easily when running. Really cleans well too. Picks up a fair amount of debris and lint when using, so it takes a few minutes to clean all parts after use, but worth the trouble so it's ready to go again. Dis-assemble carefully following directions, but not hard after you've done it.. then just rinse under tap with a sink collection strainer in-place, so debris doesn't go into drain pipes.

I love this machine. After only ever having Bissell machines, I finally decided to replace my 3rd broken one with with this Hoover. First, the suction on this machine is much stronger. The carpet is dry in no time and seems cleaner. Second, the machine comes apart for cleaning. You can remove the brushes, front assembly etc...very easily-This comes in handy when dog hair is an issue. Third, you don't need to lug around the hose assemby all the time since it's removable. I highly recommend......

I love my new Hoover machine because there are no belts to change like on the Bissell models.
I love how clean this machine gets my carpet! Also, the Hoover has an attachment which really cleans upholstery very well! Bravo!!!!!

Ok, here is my experience with the Hoover Dual V F7412-900. (Same as F7411-900) My wife and I purchased a 1300 sq foot house about 8 months ago. The carpet was new when we moved in. (Builder grade). After 8 months it was beyond time to clean it. I was going to rent a rug doctor, but was not excited about lugging it home. My friend offered to loan us his Bissell pro heat steam cleaner. We cleaned the carpets and were so happy with the results, we decided to buy one. When I went out to buy it, I ......

Machine worked well on my off-white carpet. Doesn't perform miracles, but I was able to put off buying new carpet. Machine works well if you use slow strokes and make a couple of dry runs to pick up more water. The only annoying issue was the frequency of water changes and refills, but that is normal for all machines of this type.
