 "Think messy clean up" 2009-06-11
By S. Fitzgerald
I bought this last year and have about given up on it. The biggest problem is cleaning out the vacuum after it's been used. The dirt goes everywhere. Basically I have to clean it in the sink. The HEPA filter needs to be rinsed out after I've used it for one floor, and then it has to dry for a day. The housekeeper says she can only use it 15 minutes and then it overheats and shuts off. Frankly, I'd rather have a bag on the vacuum now. It would probably pick up enough of the dirt around here.

 "great vacuum" 2009-05-04
By P. A. Hesse (Nevada)
bought this vacuum two years ago and it's still working as great as the day i bought it! i like to take appliances apart and clean them, this may have something to do with it. i let the dirt pile up too high once and wound up spilling it in the kitchen, but it was easy to clean up. great product!

 "Buyer Beware" 2009-04-20
By Theresa C. (Syracuse, NY)
For $189 this product is not worth the money. It's heavy to use and noisier than the one I previously owned. I have to push the vacuum with one hand and hold the cord out with the other (otherwise the cord will retract). I've only had it for six months and it seems like an old, beat up vacuum that you wouldn't pay $5 for at a garage sale. Lately it makes loud noises like it's on it's last leg. Keep looking...

 "Badly designed machine" 2009-04-11
By Billy Shakes (On a bull of mud circling the sun)
Cons:

Dusting brush is badly positioned and falls off.

It falls over very easily when using the hose.

Heavy and bulky.

Awkward to maneuver.

Very messy to empty.

Pros:

Decent suction power.

Relatively inexpensive

 "A good, solid vacuum" 2009-03-19
By Joshua Senecal (Livermore, CA USA)
My wife and I purchased this to replace an old Hoover bagged upright that finally died. It's the first bagless we've ever owned.

The vacuum seems to be solidly built. We like the hose and the assorted attachments. It's easy to use (but heavier than our last one), and is also much quieter. This was a pleasant surprise. It also seems to be very efficient, and collects a lot of dirt in a very short amount of time.

It's neat seeing the dirt and dust collect as you vacuum. It amazes me that dust collects that fast on our carpet, and we remove our shoes when entering the house.

As this is a bagless cyclonic vacuum, emptying the cup (canister, whatever you choose to call it) can be a very messy business if you're not careful. We've found that the least messy way to do it is to hold the canister so the end is suspended *in* (not *over*) a trash can, open the bottom, and let it all fall out. Don't try tipping the mess neatly into a smaller trash can (as if you were pouring from a glass)--it's a good way to get dust everywhere. Remember to check and clean the filters regularly.

Thus far we've had one mishap, when my wife accidentally vacuumed up some clothes. This caused the belt to be thrown. I was able to get it all back together, but it took some effort; much more than our previous vacuum. The belt pulley assembly is plastic, so I was afraid it'd break with all the force required to get everything back in place. No breaks so far, but I'd guess that as the plastic ages over time, and becomes brittle, the pulley assembly will break during a belt change.

The only thing that we have noticed that irritates us is sometimes, if the canister is not seated properly, there is a high-pitched whistling sound when we run the vacuum, because the canister is not sealed completely to the rest of the vacuum. Readjusting the canister takes care of the problem.

Overall, we're very satisfied with it and would recommend it.
