I suppose you get what you pay for. We bought this cleaner because we have dogs and were tired of renting Rug Doctor every month. This cleaner does work but you really have to go slow to be effective. That means it will take you all day to do a big rug. It's really meant to be a spot cleaner. It does not heat the cleaning fluid. You are supposed to pour it in hot and it cools off over time. We also had some trouble getting te vacuum system to work. You really have to be sure that everything is in place and tight or else it won't work at all. I'd consider spending more and getting a serious cleaner.

This item is an absolute necessity for pets. It is the perfect size for quickly and easily cleaning up little spills. I am very impressed with a machine in the "spot" category having upscale features like revolving brushes and heated cleaning. I purchased mine for $79.99 from Amazon. I'm not sure if prices fluctuate, as it is over $120.00 today. Regardless, it is an excellent performer and takes up a fraction of the space that larger machines take up. Another great Hoover product.

Ok I am kinda selective of buying a carpet cleaner and look for several different things. In an average week I will have to spot clean or clean a large area. I have 4 kids and 5 dogs and I absolutly hate my carpet stained. This Hoover F5505 was very handy for say cleaning a spot with the hand tool and did a good job. However if you need to clean a large area or even a room the upright cleaner is not wide enough.

This product is by far...awful! It is a LOT smaller than it looks, it was light enough that my 14 month old son could easily push it around. The tanks for clean and dirty water are difficult to put on correctly so that the water won't leak. The ratio of clean water into the carpet vs. dirty that gets picked up is about 2:1. I was cleaning a room and when I was completely done with the water in the clean tank, there was only about 50% in the dirty tank. I kept going over and over the carpet to see if I could get more but the SUCTION doesn't SUCK! This is NOT a good carpet cleaner...spend a little more money and get a better one!
