First let me way that we have 3 dogs, lots to vacuum, and we LOVE our unit. It is easy to use and works great. **To store my unit after each use, we simply wrap the cord in an oval shape over the handle on the top of the unit. Then we just secure the cord with the rubber plug prong and that's it. We would not have known how to store the cord if our salesman had not shown us. Certainly wrapping the cord on the bottom of the unit is much more of a pain. Hope this helps all you constellation users.

The constellation is a great tool! I vacuum everyday and this littler champion works great. I have owned several vacuum cleaners, including a Kirby and this is my favorite machine. I have all hardwood floors and this little baby floats around and the suction can't be beat. I love the flexible hose, as this allows me to do all the stairs while the constellation floats at the bottom. The turbo carpet attachment is lightweight and easy to use too. I am impressed with the suction and the ease of this very cool item. I love the fact that the on-board tools can be attached on the canister or the wand. I love the lightweight telescoping wands and the ease of switching attachments. This is a very cool design. The cord can be wrapped around the base really easy too. All I do is disconnect the hose, turn on the constellation and spin it like a top. The cord wraps around the base effortlessly. (I do hold the cord while I spin the machine to ensure it wraps up nicely. ) When it reaches the outlet, I turn it off and attach the outlet end to the cord via the clip designed as part of the plug. I would buy a fleet of them and hope Hoover will re-consider discontinuing this item.HOOVER CANISTER VAC CONSTELLATION BAGGED STAINLESS

This vacuum seems very well built. Its minimalist elegant design greatly reduces the number of parts that can break. No wheels! No cord retractor! No electric cord attached to the wand! It puts all the other vacuum cleaners made of cheap plastic to shame - including maybe even the Miele units. So far it has done a great job around the house. I can do one floor and a staircase without unplugging it. The hose extends far enough to allow me to do the whole staircase without lifting the base once. I don't mind that it doesn't have auto-rewind. Other vacuums we've had with that feature eventually stripped the cord. We could never get our house this clean with our old upright.

It's working fine for me. With my gentle touch and careful manipulation, I expect I can make this unit last for many years. The on-off switch is too cheaply made, Hoover needs to make the switch out of steel parts like they used to! (At least I have the comfort of knowing that if any parts fail, new parts are available to replace them). I spent more than 8 hours doing in-depth online research, and reading vacuum-cleaner customer reviews until I was ready to puke, before buying this unit. I am a person who swore on numerous occasions in the past that I would never buy another Hoover product, after owning/using their horrid 'Foldaway Widepath' bagless vacuum cleaner. I do not regret buying this Constellation Vacuum Cleaner.

We had an original model of the Constellation in the 1960s and that was good. This is improved, especially since you can use HEPA bags (important, choose #4010806S) for dust-free air when you vacuum.
It is light-weight, and follows you around easily as it floats on a cushion of air! Will clean carpet with the turbo-head attachment, but excels on hardwood floors. The vacuum hose looks and feels like a plastic coated "slinky" and will stretch out to 15 foot length so you might vacuum a full set of stairs without having to move the vacuum canister.
One negative: The long electric cord must be wound up by hand when the job is done! No auto-wind. A small price to pay for a simple, efficient vacuum cleaner.

I am looking all over for this vacuum as it is the replica of the one I grew up with and it moves WITH you, unlike all vac's I have had since that bump into everything as you move along. I loved this vac!
