It vacuums sure but how hard is it to do that?
The dirt cup, it could hardly be called a canister, is messy with a open hole on the bottom! that leaves a nice lil dirt path from the vacuum to the garbage can you go to empty it in. Presumably so you can find your back to the vacuum cleaner. So I guess it more like a feature huh.
The filter is a mess, hard to keep clear, very messy to clean.

I was in a jam. My work vacuum failed, and I needed something FAST. I snagged one of these and away I went. Within 24 hours, back I came!
Pros:
* Comes fully assembled
* Nicely balanced
* Folding handle - easy to store
* Good suction
Cons:
* THE DIRT GOES RIGHT TO THE FILTER! (no, my caps lock is not stuck)
* The dirt goes right to the filter!
* Did I say the dirt goes right to the filter?
* Short power cord.
I was dumbfounded. In the filter chamber, dust and dirt filled the area around the filter, and the canister was nearly EMPTY. Hoover blew it first time out with bagless and their tall side-by-side filter/canister system, then blew it again with their Fusion series cone/cyclonic design (which I deal with daily) - and now they are at strike 3 with this design. I give up on Hoover. Recommend to a friend? I don't hate anyone that much!

We have a dog and multiple cats, as well as a woodstove in our living room, the vacuum picks up pet hairs that I didn't even know were there, bits of wood that falls to the floor and an amazing amount of dirt that apparently is getting tracked in. With the exception of the wood bits most of the dirt is stuff I couldn't see on the carpet. The vacuum works exceptionally well on wall-to-wall carpeting however does poorly on low nap rugs (for instance, an old oriental I have) and bare floors. While that's disappointing it's what I expected after reading other reviews. Since I already had an old vacuum that works very well on floors and my oriental but not on carpeting this is exactly what I needed. My daughter bought an older fold-away at a yard sale and hers works equally well on my wall to wall carpeting so I have high hopes that if I keep it clean it will still be doing a good job years from now.
If space is an issue, the fold down handle is a nice feature and feels reasonably solid when using it. Also, the front of the vacuum is low enough to fit under most of my furniture, making a quick vacuuming an easy chore. Downside is cleaning the filter is a messy dusty job but that is overcome by putting the filter in a plastic grocery bag before knocking dirt loose. Overall I'm pleased with the vacuum.

I needed a vacuum and bought this one. Mistake! From day one it was spitting stuff out from underneath, no matter which carpet setting I used. Maybe it works better with shaggier carpet, but on mine it was just disgusting. Did they even test it? Who would bother using this thing? I'll never buy a Hoover again. It never wants to return to an upright state--I get some weird resistance from the spring in the hinge.

I bought this vacuum 2 months ago and at first thought it performed adequately, not great or good. Now it's December and we have a Christmas tree and I am completely disgusted. This vacuum won't pick up the pine needles on my wood floor - it blows them around rather than sucking them up. It picks up dog fur and dust, but if its heavier than dust it blows it away. The cord is ridiculously short. The tools fall off the back all the time. Today the second set of wheels mysteriously also fell off. I believe it's time to get rid of this terrible machine. My old Hoover was great - this one, awful. I don't think I will buy a Hoover again.
